Bishop-Stortford, a town of Hertfordshire, on the Stort, 12 miles ENE. of Hertford. It chiefly consists of two streets in the form of a cross. It carries on a trade in grain and malt. Bishop-Stortford was in Saxon times the property of the bishops of London. Pop. 6594.
