Bishop's Castle, a municipal borough of Shropshire, 22 miles SW. of Shrewsbury, and 9\frac{1}{2} WNW. of Craven Arms junction by a branch line (1865). Till 1832 it returned two members to parliament. It is irregularly built on a hill slope. The bishops of Hereford had formerly a castle here. Pop. 1586.
