Bobruïsk, a fortified town of Russia, on the Beresina, 87 miles SE. of Minsk by rail, with a large trade in wood and corn. It was besieged ineffectually by the French in 1812, and was made a fortress of the first rank by the Emperor Nicholas. Pop. 58,056 (very many of them Jews).
