Bouvardia, a Mexican genus of Rubiaceæ, sub-order Cinchonaceæ. Bouvardia triphylla, with oblong ternate leaves and beautiful corymbs of scarlet flowers produced from June to November, has obtained a place among the favourite ornaments of flower-borders in Britain, but requires careful protection from frost. To preserve it, the roots are generally taken up.
