Brent Goose, or BRENT BARNACLE (Bernicla brenta), a species of wild goose, breeding in the far north, coming south in winter in great numbers, and often shot along British and other coasts. It is common in markets. The head, neck, long wing-feathers, and tail are black, the belly white, the rest slaty gray. It is often called the black goose. It lives on marine plants and small animals.
