Burn, RICHARD, born in 1709 at Winton, in Westmoreland, was educated at Queen's College, Oxford, and in 1736 received the living of Orton, in his native county, which he held till his death in 1785. Among his eight works were the Justice of the Peace, which has passed through 29, and Ecclesiastical Law, 9 editions; a History of the Poor-laws; and a History of Cumberland.
