Calamint

Calamint (Calamintha), a genus of Labiatæ, nearly allied to balm and thyme. C. officinalis is not unfrequent in England. It has an agreeable aromatic mint-like odour, and is used by the country-people to make herb-tea, and enjoys a widespread traditional repute as a pectoral medicine. C. clinopodium is Wild Basil, and C. Acinos, Basil Thyme. The common calamint is found in North America, with several native species.
