Calvi, a fortified seaport of Corsica, on a peninsula in the Gulf of Calvi, 38 miles WSW. of Bastia.

Calvi was captured by the English in 1794, after a siege of fifty-one days, during which Nelson lost an eye; it was retaken by the Corsicans in the following year. Pop. 1987.
