Campoma'nes, PEDRO RODRIGUEZ, COUNT OF, Spanish statesman and writer, born in Asturias in 1723, held many posts under Charles III., and in 1789-91 was president of the council of state. He died February 3, 1802. Besides an account of the antiquities of Carthage, he published (1774) the first good Spanish treatise on political economy, and a work on the education of artisans (1775).
