Carson City, capital of the state of Nevada, U.S., near the foot of the Sierra Nevada, 178 miles ENE. of San Francisco. Gold and silver are found near by, and there are a mint, and quartz-crushing mills, with many substantial and well-built houses. Pop. (1880) 4227; (1890) 3950.
