Dinkelsbühl, an ancient walled town of Bavaria, on the Wörnitz, 19 miles NNW. of Nördlingen by rail, with manufactures of cordage, hosiery, straw-hats, pencils, brushes, &c. It was formerly a free city of the empire, and suffered much during the Thirty Years' War. Pop. (1880) 5186; (1885) 4457; (1895) 4577.
