Düren (Roman Marcodurum), an ancient town of Rhenish Prussia, on the Roer, 18 miles E. of Aix-la-Chapelle. It has manufactures of cloth, iron and steel, paper, sugar, carpets, and beer. Pop. 21,731, of whom about 2000 are Protestants.
