Huntsville, capital of Madison county, Alabama, in the valley of the Tennessee, 10 miles N. of the river, and 212 miles ESE. of Memphis by rail. It has an ice-factory, a foundry, and manufactures of cotton, cotton-seed oil, and flour. Pop. (1880) 4977; (1890) 7995.
