Lens, a town of France, in the department of Pas-de-Calais, 17 miles by rail SW. from Lille. Here are coal-mines, sugar-factories, sail-works, &c. Pop. (1891) 13,862. At Lens Condé defeated the Archduke Leopold on 20th August 1648.
