Lodève (anc. Luteva), a town in the French department of Hérault, at the foot of the Cévennes, 43 miles by rail NW. of Montpellier. A bishop's see till 1790, it has a cathedral, founded in 950, but rebuilt in the 14th century. Cardinal Fleury was a native. Pop. 9225.
