Lodge, EDMUND (1756-1839), successively Lancaster, Norroy, and Clarenceux herald, published Illustrations of British History (3 vols. 1791), a Life of Julius Caesar (1810), and an annual Peerage; but is best known as author of the Portraits of Illustrious Personages of Great Britain (4 vols. fol. 1821-34), the cost of engraving and printing which exceeded £40,000.
