Maestricht Beds, a section of the Danian or uppermost subdivision of the Cretaceous System (q.v.). In Britain the chalk with flints is covered with Tertiary strata, but at Maestricht in Holland there occurs a thickness of 100 feet of soft yellowish limestone with a conglomeratic base, abounding in the remains of Corals and Polyzoa. The fossils are peculiar.
