Pahang, or PAKANG, a Malay and Moslem state on the east coast of the Malay Peninsula, since 1887-89 under British protection and connected with the Straits Settlements (q.v.). Pahang has an area of 10,000 sq. miles, and a pop. of 57,462. The capital is Pekan on the Pahang River.
