Sienskiewicz, HENRIK, Polish novelist (see POLAND, p. 275), born in 1846, has visited California and Africa. A number of his works (The Deluge, Children of the Soil, Yanko the Musician, With Fire and Sword, Quo Vadis? &c.) have been translated—most of them by Jeremiah Curtin.
